Open-world shooter with lots of verticality
Echo Point Nova is a premium premium action game for PC developed by Greylock Studio. It is a first-person shooter that is set in a sci-fi open world that players can freely navigate and traverse. Players explore a mysterious planet to stop a ruthless mercenary force wreaking destruction everywhere.
Similar to games like Anger Foot or SUPERHOT, Echo Point Nova serves up fast-paced and fluid combat in both single-player and online four-player co-op modes. It is complemented by distinct visuals melding comic book styling with polygonal graphics for a unique presentation of its characters and vast world.
Soaring heights
In Echo Point Nova, you assume the role of a space explorer who crash lands on a mysterious planet filled with mercenaries. You realize they are exploiting ancient alien technology to create dangerous weapons to dominate the land. Thus, begins a dangerous mission to put a stop to their operation and rid the planet of their torment once and for all.
Compared to its contemporaries, Echo Point Nova stands out with its traversal and high verticality. There are multiple biomes to visit across the map, and you can pretty much go wherever you want with your grappling hook. Face mercenaries and bots in large-scale shoot-outs while zipping around and colossal bosses that pose the biggest threats to the planet.
Along the way, you get to discover all kinds of hidden loot like weapons and character enhancements to cosmetic items that let you personalize the way you look. There are a couple of things that need more attention, though, the first being the bad AI for enemies and teammates. The second is the thin content and lack of gameplay variety. Traversal is fun but everything else feels repetitive.
Thrilling but repetitive
All in all, Echo Point Nova is a fun sci-fi shooter with a vast open world to explore and traversal mechanics that make zipping from one platform to another so much fun and thrilling. However, that eventually gives way to a rather shallow gameplay experience that needs more content to help keep things fresh and interesting. Nevertheless, it's work checking out and experiencing for yourself.
